SSO |
SSO, which is Singapore Symphony Orchestra has a performance, which is FREE, the night before yesterday at School Of The Arts. It's my first time going to any concert. ANY. None. NEVER. Coz it's always expensive. So, since this is free, and they're the famous SSO, I'm lucky that I get to listen to them. They're AWESOME!! Darrell Ang is AWESOME!!
So, I didn't get to take pictures with him, coz he left after a while but my friend did get to take picture with him..and she's so happy...haih...it's going to take a while for her to chill.
So, he's awesome, the piece is awesome, the place is awesome and I'm awesome. =))
Stephen Hough is also there as well!! He's A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Well, he's actually more than just a performer. He's also a composer and a writer. Impressive..He performed in several countries like Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Czech and Russia. He's really a great great pianist. Definitely one of the best. He played Paganini with variations that day with the orchestra and he has a solo performance as well.
As for Darrell Ang, he's quite a young guy. Handsome as well =))
He graduated from a lot of universities. Seriously there's a lot. Oh by the way, he's a Yale University alumni...CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!! IT'S YALE!!
And a lot more universities. But anyways, he's one of the best conductor in SSO. And my friend's crazy about him for several days. Hopefully she'll calm down soon. =)) haha!!
SSO played 3 pieces in the whole concert. The first piece is Khovanshchina by Modeste Petrovich Muddorgsky. The composer of this piece is a Russian. He loves his country very very much. The piece is actually about a peaceful and awe-inspiring sunrise over Moscow.
The second piece is Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky as well. They broke down the piece into 3 parts if I'm not mistaken. And they didn't played it as the usual order which makes it more interesting and less boring. Darrell did a good job in explaining the story of Mussorgsky that inspires him to compose this masterpiece. Pictures at an Exhibition is composed when Mussorgsky's best friend, Viktor Hartmann died. He was walking around at an art gallery, appreciating paintings from Viktor and those paintings inspire Mussorgsky to compose this piece with 10 movements. But they didn't play all of them. Just a few.
Lastly, it's Variations on a Theme by Paganini by Witold Lutosławaski. It's a famous piece of work. So, I'll skip the intro. Stephen Hough's awesome!! =))
So, after that we waited for Michael to come out from the backstage and then hoping that we can take picture with him. But unfortunately, we're too late. We called him several times but he didn't pick up. He left before we could met him as he's not feeling well that day. So, he left right after the concert ends. But I still Love him. he's the best PT ever.
So, that's about it. it's a great day, I had fun with Engene the Guitar God which is full of shit, SK2, Vanessa who got the scholarship, Christabel which keeps on texting AhBoy and Qin Yan which is happy that the spring of her clarinet is not broken. Haha!!
Thanks a lot for being such great friends. =))
